Canadian River Art Academy sessions, September through May, are divided into four age groups. Pre-K – K, 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 5th and older. Students sign up by the month and attend classes once a week. Average attendance is 12-14 students per age group. Two week-long summer camps average 15-20 per session.
In December the Children’s Art Academy exhibits work created during the sessions. Last year CRA hosted 9 Open Jam Sessions and Art Therapy Nights, 4 workshops featuring outside artists, and 3 Featured Artist Art Shows and Sales. Adult attendees for 2017 were approximately 190. Special art shows and receptions draw 60-100people.
Once a month, CRA has an outreach program for the seniors living at Mesa View Assisted Living. 5-10 residents attend these popular events which have included watercolor lessons, pottery painting and design, holiday ornament decoration and plate decoupage.
